New MainStream Capital Formed by Former Private Equity Principals of Goldman Sachs and Haas Wheat

NEW YORK/DALLAS (December 2, 2010) – Two former Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. managing directors and three senior members of Dallas‐based Haas Wheat & Partners have formed New MainStream Capital (“NMS”). NMS will invest in middle-market healthcare services, business services, and food/consumer products companies, particularly companies benefiting from strong national demographic trends.

NMS co‐founders and Managing Partners Martin Chavez and Kevin Jordan previously managed Goldman Sachs’ Urban Investment Group. Robert B. Haas, co‐founder and Chairman of Haas Wheat & Partners, will become the Chairman of the Strategic Advisory Committee of NMS. His long time partners Wyche Walton and Jim Wilson will become NMS Partners. Additionally, Dr. Jose Armas, CEO of MCCI Holdings, will become the Chairman of the firm’s Operating Executive Committee.

As part of its formation, NMS completed the acquisition of the majority of Goldman Sachs’ Urban Investment Group’s corporate portfolio of investments.Goldman Sachs will continue to operate its Urban Investment Group real estate investment business. Pantheon Ventures, a 28‐year‐old fund of funds firm with $22 billion under management and offices in London, New York, San Francisco and Hong Kong is a financial partner in the aquisition of the portfolio of companies and is a major investor in NMS.

NMS will have offices in New York and Dallas.
