Robert B. Haas
Chairman, Strategic Advisory Committee
Mr. Haas is Chairman of the Strategic Advisory Committee of NMS since 2010. Prior to his current role with NMS, Mr. Haas was Chairman of the Board of HWP, which he co-founded in 1992. Prior to HWP, Mr. Haas co-founded the firm Hicks & Haas (“H&H”) in 1984, and has been engaged in leveraged acquisitions and strategic equity investments since that time.
HWP and H&H consummated a number of highly noteworthy acquisitions, including Dr Pepper Company, The Seven-Up Company, Sybron International Corporation, Nebraska Book Company, and AMN Healthcare Services. Prior to co-founding H&H, Mr. Haas was a principal of Intercapco, Inc. from 1978 to 1984, and a lawyer at Burke, Haber & Berick, specializing in corporate and securities law, from 1972 to 1978.
In addition to his investment career, Mr. Haas is the author and photographer of a series of ten books, including five published by National Geographic Society, most notably Through the Eyes of the Gods: An Aerial Vision of Africa (2005), Through the Eyes of the Condor: An Aerial Vision of Latin America (2007), and Through the Eyes of the Vikings: An Aerial Vision of Arctic Lands (2010). His photography has been exhibited in numerous venues throughout the world and has been the subject of features on CBS News Sunday Morning, ABC News Nature’s Edge, and CNN. Through the Eyes of the Gods and Through the Eyes of the Condor are two of the most widely distributed single photographer works in National Geographic’s history.
Mr. Haas received a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1972 and a B.A. from Yale University in 1969, and has endowed professorships in Corporate Finance at both Harvard Law School and the Yale School of Management.
